Atsuyuki Yamataka, MD, PhD

Dr. Yamataka is the Professor/Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department, and the Director of the Perinatal Medical Support Centre at Juntendo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He is also the Visiting Co-Professor of the Department of Gastrointestinal and Pediatric Surgery at Tokyo Medical University.

His clinical interests include Minimally Invasive Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Anorectal Malformation and Hirschsprung's Disease.

He is on the Editorial Board as the Representative for Asia of the European Journal of Pediatric Surgery, an Associate Editor for Journal of Pediatric Surgery, an Executive Editorial Board for Pediatric Surgery International, as well as being the Pediatrics Asian Editor for Journal of Laparoendoscopic Advanced Surgical Techniques (JLAST) and JLAST Videoscopy. He is also an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Pediatric Surgery.

He has served as the President of the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG) in 2007, and the Publication Committee Chairman of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons (PAPS) from 2007-2009, the Publication Committee Chairman of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons (international session) from 2011-2015, the Publication Committee Chairman of the Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (AAPS) from 2013-2015 . He was the President of AAPS in 2016 and the president of PAPS in 2016. He is the Local Congress Chairman of the Paediatric Colorectal Club (PCC) 2018 in Tokyo, and the Local Congress Chairman of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons (JSPS) 2020.

Presently, he has published over 330 peer-reviewed articles in various high-quality journals.
