This focused issue on Adolescent Gynecology is edited by Dr. Dilip R. Patel and Dr. Maria Demma I. Cabral, from Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine, Kalamazoo, MI, USA.

Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics, and subspecialties of Adolescent Medicine, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, and Sports Medicine. His main clinical and research interests are in pediatric sports medicine, adolescent behavioral health, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. He has edited over 20 books and 25 special journal symposia. He has published more than 300 book chapters and articles.

Dr. Cabral received her medical degree from the University of the Philippines Manila and pursued pediatrics with subsequent subspecialty training in adolescent medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and Subspecialty of Adolescent Medicine. Her main clinical and research interests are in adolescent reproductive health, gynecologic care, eating disorders, teens with special health care needs, and high-risk teens.
