Many scholars and practitioners in the field of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) agree on the importance of integrating early intervention practices into joint activity routines. This notion originates from research on typical development (1), suggesting that the predictable structure and affectively rich framework of early child-caregiver routines provide a powerful foundation for child social-communicative and cognitive development.
